Written by The Drudge Report, as I’ve noted too many times, is a source of much amusement for me these days. The “Trump is literally Hitler” thing is mostly a caricature of left wing fanatics, with few people actually saying this. We find a somewhat noteworthy person coming anywhere near this, and blame the White House Press Secretary, or someone of that prestige, just because we find that amusing, even if it fails to accurately convey the facts.
But Matt Drudge, once a conservative media icon for his news aggregation site, does not mind being a caricature. In hindsight, he has a lot in common with Colbert Report, one might say. He was never “Conservative” so goes the theory. He has always been a man of the Left, and was trolling the Right the whole time.
Having become perhaps most noteworthy for his coverage of the Clinton Lewinsky sex scandal, conservative news consumers were so happy to see someone taking it to the enemy. Understandably so, I might add.
But was screwing around with some bimbo the worst thing coming from the Clinton family? Not by a long shot. This was the magicians spectacle, designed to distract the mark, while he saws somebody in half, and they scream out in pain as they are dragged of the stage. The audience thinks the sawed in half man will come back to let them know it was all a trick, but they get distracted by the cigar gag, and the corpse is disposed of.
By that theory, all that has changed recently about the Drudge report is the degree to which he is willing to let his dupes in on the gag.

This is cartoon leftism run amok. I am tempted to say Anderson Cooper would find this beneath his dignity, but I’d surely be called out on this in short order.
