It’s rare you see me pass up an opportunity to call into question the integrity of police officers. Police, by the very nature of their profession, are a threat to the safety and dignity of all mankind. So when an opportunity presents itself to expose that reality to the public, I quite gleefully rush to do so. Unfortunately, I see no such opportunity in the Sandra Bland case, and activists who think they do ought to be ashamed of themselves. Nobody worth reaching is going to listen to a word you say if you change your mission from police accountability, to race and gender pimping.
Several readers have contacted me about the case of Sandra Bland, a 28 year old black Illinois woman, who died in police custody in Prairie View, Texas. Right now, #SandraBland is trending on Twitter. CopBlock.org has not one, but two posts up about the story, and other “police accountability” blogs have posted obsessively about it in a way that I can only describe as shameful.
Having read about the story, seen video both from the dashcam of the officer’s cruiser, and from a bystander, and seen an autopsy report that quite clearly marks her death a suicide, I can come to only one conclusion. The only reason anybody cares about this story, is because she is a black woman, and a #BlackLivesMatter lunatic.
