The United States government, you know, the guys that spend more on their military than any country in the world? Yeah, those guys, they held a summit at the White House on combating violent extremism. I checked it out, and unfortunately there was no mention of ceasing their relentless blood lust, which seems to me would be a good first step.

No, instead they “have to confront the violent extremists — the propagandists, recruiters and enablers — who may not directly engage in terrorist acts themselves, but who radicalize, recruit and incite others to do so.” said the president in an op ed at the Los Angeles Times.

This follows his speech from a “Cyber Security Summit” last week where he said “the same social media we use to advocate for democracy and human rights around the world, can also be used by terrorists to spread hateful ideologies.”

It’s difficult not to notice that this is happening at the same time net neutrality is being pushed by the FCC, which is basically just a push for government run Internet, or ISP.gov as I’ve put it. I mean, between PRISM, and the recent discovery that the NSA is hiding malware in the firmware of hard drives, it would seem to me that the real cyber security threat is the United States Federal Government. How giving them more control over the internet is going to solve anything escapes me.

But I guess that’s not really the goal.

I feel threatened, frankly.
