It came to my attention that Brad Spangler, a C4SS contributor whom I had been in conflict with some time ago to the point of Facebook blocking, confessed last night to molesting his daughter. He announced on his Facebook page that he would be turning himself into police, apparently out of concern that ASUS tech support would be discovering child pornography on a computer he had sent in for warranty exchange.
He said he “did not do so forcibly”, as if an adult who sexually abuses their own offspring can somehow label it a voluntary act. He goes on to acknowledge an abuse of trust, but I still see this entire thing as a measure of responsibility avoidance. Even as he confesses to molesting his daughter, he repeatedly talks about his failing health and mental state, making a victim of himself. In fact, he only briefly mentions the harm he did to this young girl, the other 8 paragraphs are about himself.
